A New Way to See a Place
Every pixel in a photograph carries data. The Pictometric series turns that data into design — taking the colors of the travel poster and turning them into a proportional graphic unique to that place.
On the front: the Japan Pictometric — a visual fingerprint built from the deep vermilion red of the torii gate pillars and crossbeams, the dark mossy green of the forest floor and surrounding cedar trees, and the pale stone grey of the pathway leading toward the mountain summit. On the back: the full Fushimi Inari Torii Gates vintage travel poster from The Postcards Collection — Fushimi Inari, Japan — The Corridor of a Thousand Wishes.
On the sleeve: the coordinates of Fushimi Inari — 34.96702° N, 135.77465° E — marking the spot where the photograph behind this poster was taken. That original photograph is also available separately as a fine art print.
Inside the neck: a custom Kyoto postage stamp, the quiet detail that ties every piece in The Postcards Collection back to the place that inspired it.
